The Executive Director for the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime says:
The report was undertaken for a simple reason: if we want to succeed in confronting human trafficking in all its manifestations, we must better understand its scope and structure. We need to appreciate where human trafficking is happening, who are its victims and who is perpetrating this crime.

The problem with this, as always, is that it’s a slippery slope. You begin by stopping human trafficking, then you start telling people who they can sleep with (since when do rigid, puritanical norms against incest, bestiality and furry-fucking trump individual freedom to express your own sexual liberation in a safe, consensual, and sexually diverse manner?) And then what? Should we stop selling sulphuric acid, in case people start going around throwing that on other people? The UK has adopted a ‘war on acid,’ but to be quite honest, getting a good, solid dose of pH 1 on your face instead of weakass 5 or 6 is pretty much just the price we have to pay for freedom! I’d rather live in a society where people where hundreds of people were having their face burnt to shreds day in day out, but we were still free, than one where the government tells you what concentration of sulphuric acid, nitric acid or caustic soda you can buy or not buy!…
PERHAPS SOMEWHAT SURPRISINGLY, LEADING DEMOCRAT NANCY PELOSI IS ALSO STRONGLY ON BOARD WITH THIS LATEST POLICY:
I see a spark of humanity in human traffickers, and we must all hope and pray that the light is not going to go out on the human trafficker community. My faith tells me even the least of all in our society is a child of God, and must never be made to feel unwelcome or excluded by anyone, no matter what you or I or anyone else might think be tempted to think about them, when we risk giving into fear and distrust of the stranger at our gates. Trump’s threat to pile even more exclusion and intolerance upon those with whom we all share a common humanity, is extremely dangerous, it is utterly heartbreaking, and as I’m sure you all agree, this unspeakably cruel and heartless war against the human trafficker community goes against everything America stands for in our world today!
