Call him a closet liberal all you want, but Colbert knows which side his bread is buttered on. As Dr. Seuss suggested, it’s an age old battle of butter-side up vs. butter-side down.

Stephen did show in DC the a few days before his final episode. Obama was his guest star and indeed read "The Word" segment. He was a big hit. I don't know why just a few days after this you'd think Stephen snubbed him. I'm guessing it must have had to do with editing; definitely something other than snubbing, since having him appear on his show at some length in DC was the antithesis of snubbing.
