Los Angeles, California – Hundreds of skiers, snowboarders and snow tubers celebrated the grand opening of Mount Thang, located in the eastern side of the city this past weekend.
In addition to celebrating Los Angeles’ first snow sighting since a light dusting fell in Malibu back in 2007, all attending guests had the opportunity to chat with celebrities, including the mountain’s popular owner, O’Shea Jackson, Sr., better known by his stage name, Ice Cube.
“We can’t explain how we were able to maintain a twenty-four to forty-eight inch base in the city’s naturally warm climate, but from the guest’s reactions, we were spot on!” Said the mountain’s head snow architect, Zak Bagansmongar, while putting on a seemingly unnecessary face warmer and air filter mask.
The highlight of the day came as a result of a raffle, which every visitor was automatically entered into when they purchased a ticket. The winner, Lauren Bambosquan from Burbank, was granted the opportunity to lick Ice Cube’s head with her tongue for good luck. To the crowd’s surprise, Bambosquan’s tongue stuck to the famed rapper’s head, theoretically forecasting the mountain will prosper.
However, things took a turn for the worse when the tongue could not be removed and the pair had to be rushed to the Good Samaritan Hospital on Wilshire Boulevard. Fortunately, surgeons were able to perform a simple procedure and the two left the hospital within two hours.
“We had a brief scare, but overall, this will be known as the greatest ski resort Los Angeles has ever known,” Ice Cube said before slightly bending his knees and letting the chairlift carry him to the top of the mountain. “It’s a mount thang,” Cube added.
Mount Thang offers snow enthusiasts eight different trails to choose from with two chairlifts, a terrain park and an air conditioned lodge equipped with a restaurant and bar.
He thinks he’s got problems? I once got my tongue stuck on Vanilla Ice. It was the worst edgy culture icons reunion in history.
