Baltimore, MD. — In an unexpected, yet timely move, the group formerly known as the NAACP have changed their name to the National Association for the Advancement of African-Americans or NAAAA.
The first meeting of the new group, held yesterday, commenced with the new tradition of “Hail NAAAA.”
When reporters tried to reach out to the Obama administration to discuss this historic day, the president was only half interested.
Cleetus P Jessup, grand dragon of a Mississippi branch of the Ku Klux Klan, was an unlikely proponent for the change.
“We thought it was about time,” Cleetus explained, “Nobody has used ‘colored people’ in decades.”
Not to be outdone, Cleetus announced a name change of their own.
“Yeah we heard that story, and brainstormed a name change too, for marketing purposes. No more KKK, we are officially the Society for Envisioning America Moving Every Negro.”
When explained that their acronym was now ‘SEAMEN,’ Cleetus was no longer available for comment, but could be heard audibly cursing to himself.
