Love him or hate him, if you follow politics, you know his name. Jon Stewart has been the host of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central for well over a decade, and he brings the new like few others in the business.
Love him or hate him, you have to agree he does his research. Although his targets are typically those on the right, he still finds time to mock those on the left who do something particularly silly.
Today the question of Jon Stewart’s worth as “the most honest man in news” is debated by Dean Chambers, blogger and statistician famous for his unskewing of the 2012 polls and Brian K. White, satirist, news editor and erstwhile travel writer.

I don’t know that there’s a voice of reason on the conservative right, but I’ll tell you without hesitation that there is one on the left. He’s only mostly partisan, but he’s all reasonable, and Jon Stewart of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is just about the most centrist, fair, factual and balanced man working in all of news today.
Jon Stewart, or whatever his gentile name is, isn’t just smart and funny, he’s honest. He takes his points and punches them up through the roof with actual clips of the hypocrites in question talking out of both sides of their mouths. He doesn’t just put the fair in balanced, he presents clips showing how eager the would-be soothsayers are to giddily lie. Jon Stewart is the most honest man in news today, even if he isn’t in fact in the trade of news.
He only waited until about a day after Obama won in 2008 to make fun of him. Compare that with the still-born baby faux news show FOX tried to launch a few years back, which was partisan first, newsy second, and funny rarely, it at all. Spoiler alert, it wasn’t.

How could he get this so wrong, everyone who is well informed knows that Rush Limbaugh is the most honest man in the news and entertainment business. Rush has the life experience to back up all of what he says, he’s been fired from more jobs in the past than most of us have ever held. But he didn’t give up on himself to accept a life of dependence on welfare programs, he persisted in his vision of becoming a syndicated talk show host until he found success.
Limbaugh is worth billions, and he’s earned every penny, and despite his gigantic wealth he can still be found sitting behind the Golden EIB Microphone every day from noon to three offering his commentary and analysis of the news. The Rush Limbaugh Show is the largest and most popular show in the history of talk radio. Rush doesn’t compromise his values and sell out to the left. Because of that, he is by far the most honest and success radio talk show host.

I didn’t realize “most honest” was somehow a popularity contest. You say he’s the most honest, but you also say he’s a billionaire. The fact is that his undisclosed net worth is more like $300 million, and his honestly is likewise about 1/6th of what you suggested.
He’s not just a liar, he’s a master troll. He inflames, incites, upsets and agitates for profit. He’s not really the savior of the right you think, otherwise he’d have never gone on Family Guy to parody himself. He knows he’s a character, not an advocate. He’s even said himself that the only way the right can come back is by distancing themselves from himself and his horrible rhetoric.
Rush is the King of Radio, but he’s also a well-documented liar and bigot. Yes, despite his wealth, he’s still sitting behind the microphone. But what else would he do? This is all he knows. There’s no reason in his voice, just vitriol. Leave the sooth-saying to those with at least a modest grasp of reality.

That’s typical of the left, to shout liar, bigot, homophobe and racist etc. when they can’t respond to the substance of someone like Rush Limbaugh. Yet others on the far left, because they believe that Rush is some kind of extremist, will proclaim Rush as the spokesman of the Conservative movement. Will the left get its case straight, is Rush an wacko outside the mainstream or the leader of a movement?
Rush Limbaugh has great respect, in some instances for not only being honest but far too honest for some, and for being clearly the most effective leader the Conservative movement has, even though he will always remind us he is an entertainer as a talk show host. But the proof of what I argue here is in the fact that Rush Limbaugh makes the conservative case far more effectively than does the Republican Party. If Mitt Romney had made the case for freedom as effectively as Rush does every day, Mitt Romney would have been sworn in as president today.
I agree with Joachim. Centrists are usually round so as to fit in the center.
I love Jon Stewart. But he isn't a centrist in any shape or form.

Who in God’s name would give the tiniest shred of credibility to the man who ran “Unskewed Polls?” A site that demonstrably fed soothing fairy tales about the election to its stupid, ready-to-believe-anything readership flying in the face of all reason and fact for, I don’t know, eleven months, and had to eat a whole murder’s worth of crow when the election proved him completely and utterly WRONG?
There’s nothing wrong with being in love with oneself, but in Rush’s case it’s bound to lead to disappointment.
Rush is a person greatly in love with himself and he inflicts it on the American public.
The most honest man in news? News is about the latest celebrity, Michelle Obama’s hairstyle, sports scandals, audience share, appealing to advertisers, the cutest video clip, “person of the week”, and occasionally facts that are not offensive to advertisers, any segment of the viewers, Israel, the White House (or at least not enough to get booted from the Press Corps), etc.
But honesty? Truth? Might as well ask where the best fishing is in the Sahara.
