Rahm Emanuel Admits “The Rich Pay Barely Any Taxes”

Erstwhile White house adviser Rahm Emanuel has taken his hat out of that ring, and thrown it into the one that allows him to run for Mayor of Chicago. Along the way, however, he has been forced to disclose his income and taxation situation, which is… shall we say, less than patriotic.

Even though Rahm Emanuel earned in excess of $2million dollars for the years of 2005 – 2007, he only paid $300,000 in federal income taxes. That means that his effective tax rate was a paltry 15%.

So Rahm earned millions, but barely paid income tax as if he was lower-working-class. That’s not right.

Give me a fat ol’ break! That can’t be right. When I worked at Olive Garden in college, I only earned $10,900, but had to pay almost 10% of it to tax. How this crazy jackass be a millionaire and pay barely less than I did when I was trying to go to school makes no sense.

One of to things are going on here:
ONE – Rahm is scamming the system… unlikely because he disclosed all his records without fear of reprisal.
TWO – The rich really ARE NOT paying their fair share of the tax.

How is it that a real estate agent from Deluth is paying 30%+ from his income, while millionaires like Rahm are only paying half as much?
