Men Hurt By Manly Media Portrayal

A recent survey has shown that men are becoming increasingly annoyed by the way they are being portrayed by the mainstream media.

The survey, carried out by the campaign group ‘Men Are Women Too,’ asked over 1,000 participating males how they would describe the men they saw on television, film, magazines and the internet.

The results are a clear indicator that men are not happy with the way men are represented.

One participant said “I am not messy and I don’t leave my dirty underwear on the floor. I have impeccable hygiene, which is more then I can say about some of the women I have dated.”

“I am constantly feeling the pressure to be a ‘player’ and be ‘sex-obsessed,’” replied another participant, “Some nights I just want to snuggle on the couch with a good movie and a hot chocolate and not be ridiculed for it.”

Dr. Stuart Hedge, who is in charge of the research, told Glossy News that these feelings among men are not new.

“They feel under pressure to be lazy and not call their dates back after sex and watch football all the time. Hopefully our research with open the discussion that will allow more men to feel comfortable saying, “No. I do not want to watch the game because it is boring.”

Dr. Hedge also went on to say that this is all part of feminism and that the media should recognise the shift in the public mood and have “more men on television who just want a real, monogamous relationship where they both share the household chores.”

With just the preliminary results throwing up such a shift in male attitudes it is believed that the final report will encourage some sort of government guidelines for media broadcasting that will include a new commissioning of Frasier.
