How to Change Your Gmail Recovery Details (Email Address & Phone Number)

Gmail is a very popular email service; and learning how to use it is very important.

If you ever forget your password and get locked out, you need an up-to-date recovery phone number or email address.

Otherwise, it will be very hard to fix this problem.

It’s easy to forget about updating this information; but making sure Google has the correct info will save you a lot of headaches later.

Updating your personal details

Log in to Gmail.

Click on your photo avatar at the top right-hand side.

Then click on the blue box saying ‘My Account.’

At the top of the page, there is some text, including the words:

Control, protect, and secure your account, all in one place.

There are also three columns:

Sign-in and security

Personal info and privacy

Account Preferences

Click on the first of these, on the left: Sign-in and security.

Scroll down to where it says

Password & sign-in method

Go down a little further and click on:

Password

Re-enter your password when prompted.

You’ll then get a message saying:

“Your password was changed
Now take a minute to review your recovery info and security settings to make sure they are accurate and up-to-date
GET STARTED.”

Well done!

Next time, we’ll have a look at what this means.
