Yahoo Somehow Still in Business

SUNNYVALE, CA – Despite the overwhelming success of Google Inc. and the vast expansion plans of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, the internet service provider, Yahoo!, somehow continues to remain in business.

Webmasters and researchers across the entire blogosphere are baffled by Yahoo!’s seemingly inexpicable ability to remain a leader in “whatever it is Yahoo! actually does these days” and have even theorized that maybe the company’s success is generated by its own staff repeatedly clicking on the site’s navigation links.

Owner of Internet Monthly Michael Griffin says that the success of Yahoo! in the 21st century is “similar to the success enjoyed by cassette tapes throughout the 1990s”.

“I suppose somebody forgot to tell Yahoo! that this isn’t 1998 anymore”, he said. “Google has all but monopolized the search engine industry, and most people nowadays use Facebook over email. Just how does Yahoo! keep on going?”

Yahoo!, which was also once the internet’s main source for news and video, has had to contend with the advent of the now Google-owned YouTube as well the development of thousands of mainstream news websites. Yet in spite of such stiff competition, the company’s primary domain – www.yahoo.com – is amazingly still listed as the fourth most visited URL in the entire world (source: Alexa.com).

Yahoo! now joins AOL and classmates.com in an elite group of websites nobody can begin to understand the actual point of.

  1. I remember when Yahoo! used to run constant TV commercials. Hey, in the tech era, that’s a bad thing. Google doesn’t run tv ads and they seem to be doing pretty okay, assuming you count total market domination as a factor.
