Thought Experiment: Anti-Terrorism Operations in Middle-Earth

If Mordor was a Political Islamist Dystopia, and Isengard was typically equivocal ‘middle line Realpolitik’ kingdom of ‘moderate political Islamism’ and/or ‘post-Islamism,’ what would you do?

Would you advise Saruman to wield the ring against Sauron?

Or would you insist that the ring is too much of a temptation, and the long perilous road to Ered Gorgoroth must be fearlessly trodden without flinching?

What does Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings have to say about this one?
