Delta Passenger Relieved Pilot Named Wendell

THE SKY—While onboard Delta flight 326 field sales representative and coach passenger Herman Adler reported the fact that he experienced a feeling of relief upon learning that the pilot’s name was Wendell.

“Sounds like a level-headed guy,” said Adler.

Adler went on to discuss the comfort he took in knowing the plane he was traveling in was piloted by someone named Wendell.

“He probably never did anything too crazy in his life,” said Adler. “I basically can’t picture a Wendell doing anything like that. I just know he’s a sensible and responsible guy.”

Sources confirmed that Adler appeared calm and confident for most of the flight, nonchalantly thumbing through the available literature that had been placed in the seatback pocket in front of him.

Update: Having felt so pleased with the smoothness of his flying experience, Adler engaged Wendell the pilot in conversation and to Adler’s horror learned that Wendell’s middle name was Spike.

“All that time we were being flown around by a ‘Spike??’” Adler sharply whispered, as his face went pale.

“This guy’s a wild card,” said Adler while shaking his head.
