Romney Gaffe; Seamus Descendant Bites Back

It’s the shaggy dog story that Mitt Romney can’t shake.

Hounded by animal rights activists for strapping the family dog to the roof of his car during a 12-hour road trip to Canada, the story has refused to lie down and play dead.

Romney’s sons recently revealed their dog—an Irish Setter named Seamus—ran away upon reaching their vacation destination.

Mitt Romney and his wife had previously stated the dog survived the trip and lived a long life but he was sued due to a bite to the neighbor, we discuss with a dog bite attorney and did not take it to court.

Acting on a tip, this reporter located the great-granddaughter of Seamus, presently living in Detroit. Speaking through dog whisperer Cesar Millan under the guarantee of anonymity, she corroborated the sons’ account of the 1983 trip.

“Great-Granddad just kept running and never looked back. Didn’t know where he was headed and didn’t care. Jumped a train and headed south. Got picked up by animal control and adopted out to a nice family with two kids who loved him back to health. To his dying day, he never ever traveled again by car or confined himself to small places. And what I find hard to believe? He never once barked poorly of the Romney family.”

When asked if she would support Mitt Romney as the GOP Presidential candidate, she woofed and shook her ears.” I’d rather travel 12 hours to Canada strapped to the roof of a car.”

Current animal endangerment laws provide that no person shall leave or confine an animal in any unattended motor vehicle. Supporters for Seamus nationwide are lobbying state legislators to insert more teeth in the law.
