4K Glossy News Podcast 038 (4-11-16) – Tax Day Edition

The 4K/UHD podcast is back again this week with even more great insightful than ever.

All of this is available in UHD on YouTube by searching “Glossy Podcast” or as an MP3 on iTunes by searching “Glossy News”.

Here are the topics covered in the the April 11th, tax day edition 2016 4K/UHD podcast.

* Tax Day public service announcement (PSA) about how to stay on top of your tax issues, and all the reasons you really, really need to do it.

* The study of what makes a good flag and the unveiling of the new, unofficial flag for the city of Seattle.

* Definitive proof that Facebook is a smart phone battery killer. Seriously, if you have problems with your smart phone battery, get rid of Facebook and Messenger (two separate apps!) to double or triple your battery life.

* Forget the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This new Keep-A-Wish Foundation will focus on kids who will also develop memories to last a lifetime, but specifically, lifetimes longer than a few weeks or months.

* Four ways to FAIL at silencing your phone in places where you’re supposed to be quiet and respectful.

* 4K/UHD review of 2016 film Eddie the Eagle starring Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton. It’s a true-ish story and a wonderful film, with a few caveats.

* A quick explanation of the Panama Papers leak, why it might not be as bad as you think, and why it actually is. There are legit ways to do a shell corporation, but this isn’t it.

* If you’re sick of trying to talk reason to Trump supporters, have no fear, there is a solution. Just talk bullshit to them, as I have, and help them keep ratcheting up the crazy. They eat that stuff up like you wouldn’t believe.

IRS Insists Scandal More of a Misunderstanding

Unlike on Wall Street, gross incompetence has resulted in heads actually rolling at the IRS. It’s not that they’re bad people, even though obviously they are, but that they got caught in a scandal even they don’t know how to diffuse.

“Dude, I’m just a file clerk,” said man name-unknown, who we accosted outside the building during the lunch hour. Clearly he knew something, but he wasn’t willing to talk.

Jakob Marjary, a senior auditor who requested we keep his name anonymous, but whose request was denied, explained from the lavish $55 million dollar retreat in Fiji that “basically, all these jackasses who were trying to not pay taxes in the name of not paying taxes? Yeah, we targeted them. I mean, get real, they’re anti-tax people and we’re literally the tax people.” Read the full story

Anti-Tax Crusaders Shocked IRS Would Question Them

Tea Party political activity groups, known for their hardline anti-tax position, were singled out by the IRS for scrutiny.

“It’s crazy,” says anti-tax crusader and Wisconsin Tea Party head Colin Felcher. I can’t imagine a single reason why they’d think we’re against paying taxes.

Unofficial IRS spokesman Davis Kaeng, who works by day as an official IRS spokesman, agreed to speak with us on the condition of anonymity, but also that we use his real name and record the conversation. Read the full story

Tax Refunds Revealed as Giant Ponzi Scheme

Washington, DC (GlossyNews) — Investigators have uncovered a multi-trillion dollar financial fraud so massive and widespread it has victimized nearly every household in America for decades.

According to investigators the so-called “Tax Refund Pyramid” employs many of the same techniques as other financial frauds, but on a much larger scale.

“On one level, this monumental scheme simply gives people back some of the money it already collected from them,” said one investigator. “But the parent organization’s finances are so shaky it has to resort to heavy borrowing and even print its own money just to do that.” Read the full story
