Dad Waits for Break in Dialogue to Repeat Line

FORT WORTH, TX—While watching an action adventure film with his family Sunday evening, local father Lou Burkley waited briefly for the film’s dialogue to subside, giving him the window of opportunity to say out loud a line he deemed worthy of repeating.

Seizing the moment, Burkley uttered the now famous words, “We’re gonna need more chairs.”

At the time of this writing, the context of the line remains unclear.

Sociologist Dr. Oscar Whitworth points out that Burkley’s restraint regarding his utterance of the line is worth noting. Whitworth says, “[Burkley] could have spoken these words at any time, but chose to wait for the sake of his family, that their understanding of the film not be hindered in any way.”

Studies show that in a situation like this, 89 percent of dads will audibly repeat certain lines that are to their liking.

Whitworth continued, “While it’s been proven among youth that saying a line before a character says it makes one appear superior in the eyes of their peers, it hasn’t been until now that we’ve seen a correlation between fathers waiting for silence before repeating a line and a generally better home life.”

At press time, Burkley was trying to determine whether or not to replay a quote-worthy moment after his latest quoting was drowned out by his family’s laughter at the line itself.
