LONDON, United Kingdom (GlossyNews) — Ever dream you were Maxwell Smart and had to reach Agent 99 in time to save her from a fate worse than death, only to find your cell phone dead, instead?
Fear no more, mobile phone company E. T. Orange has introduced a phone charging thermoelectric Wellington boot with a ‘power generating sole’ that charges your battery-powered mobile.
The boot was designed to use the Smart effect, named after TV comic book salesman and part-time international detective Maxwell Smart. Reuters Television has patented the technology based on the purchase of the Mel Brooks TV series in the mid to late 60s.
“The original shoe phone was based on analog telephony which has now been surpassed by the digital world.” As Max would say, “We are able to magically pass electric current through a boot’s sole to a battery in the heel for later use to charge your mobile. We like to call the power generation system ‘MoJo’.”
He continued, “Don’t expect me to say just exactly how it works, except to enlighten you that it is totally based on an idea brought up in a script meeting in 1965 at the TV studio. Max, er Don said “Why can’t we figure out a way to let me make calls through a phone in my shoe. No one will expect that I can do that. And Mel laughed out loud and with a sneer said, “Oh, right, and we’ll call it a Smart Phone. You can expect that next week.”
“So for now,” said the Reuters spokesperson, “you only need to walk for 12 hours in the boots to generate one hour’s worth of MoJo.”
“I understand that we will have a prototype of a swimming suit model for beach phoning in about 6 months,” he smiled. “Naturally it will appear first as a women’s bra phone, and then the men’s model will appear as a type of sock.”
“I can’t explain how the power chargers will work in these future models. That’s not really my bag, baby.”
