Star Wars creator George Lucas has created massive controversy by issuing an executive order outlawing all special effects in feature film productions.
The law, which will go into effect at the beginning of February, is described by the veteran filmmaker as “A necessary remedy after years of crappy screenwriting excused with exorbitant amounts of CGI.”
Birdemic: Shock and Terror director James Nguyen put forward a statement in support of Lucas, who he calls “An exceedingly talented genius capable of nothing but cinematic perfection.” Supplementing his encouragement is Tommy Wiseau, a close friend of Lucas and respected film director.
In a later press conference with reporters, famed actors Hayden Christiansen and Ahmed Best sung praises of the billionaire director, who they both consider a hero. Best particularly referred to Lucas as “The nice guy cleaning up big doodoo dis time.”
Reception from other Hollywood elites has not been as supportive, however. Michael Bay immediately proposed a bounty of $25 million for Lucas’s head upon receiving news of the law, only to be upped by Avatar creator James Cameron, who raised the total by $200 million while also offering the winner a night in the arms of Neytiri. Many butthurt dwellers are said to be in line for the out of this world experience.
No word yet from Pixar Studios regarding their opinion of Lucas’s law.
