Since officially filing for divorce from David Arquette in June, Courtney Cox has been pulling out all the stops in an effort to rekindle a once-blossoming romance with rock legend Bruce Springsteen dating back to 1984.
Back then, the fresh faced 20-year old gained fame by appearing in the music video for Dancing in the Dark, the first single off Springsteen’s landmark album, Born in the USA.
In the live performance video, Cox gets pulled up on stage during the song’s outro, and engages in what can only be described as a “friendly, but awkward ” dance with Springsteen. After the video shoot, she became smitten with the Boss, but brushed it off as a schoolgirl crush and the two never spoke again.
Cox’s career slowly began to take off, with a steady diet of reoccurring TV roles and appearances, along with some film work. But once she was cast in 1994 as Monica Gellar on the hugely popular TV series friends, she became one of the most recognizable actresses in Hollywood.
Despite the fame and fortune, close friends of the star admit she never has never been able to let go of the dynamic chemistry and sexual tension she believe existed between she and Springsteen. They claimed it was his honest songwriting and blue-collar masculinity that made him seem so special, and her reminded her of former long-time boyfriend Michael Keaton.
A close friend of Cox’s suggested that her infatuation with the boss was reignited at a concert in Los Angeles this past April. Cox was with a group of friends in a private suite enjoying she show when, according to onlookers, looked absolutely thrilled upon hearing the opening notes of Dancing in the Dark during the encore. But when she witnessed Springsteen pull a female fan from the audience and reenact the dance she and the Boss made famous, things got a little weird. Friends jokingly teased her, but she soon became overcome with jealously and hurried out of the arena before the concert ended.
According to a national ticket broker who wished to remain anonymous, Cox’s reps have been inquiring about ticket availability on Springsteen’s current tour in cities from coast to coast. She’s been determined to obtain front row tickets to as many Springsteen concerts as possible, all with the hope of being pulled up on stage and reliving that moment they shared nearly 30 years earlier.
When the Boss returned from Europe to start another string of US Dates in August, Cox secured prime seats in Boston, Toronto and Philadelphia, and is determined to keep attending shows until she gets his attention. Posts on various social media outlets have been consistent with sightings of Cox dressed in a sleeveless Born in the USA concert tee, vintage Levi Jeans and a new shorter hairdo, desperately trying to turn back the clock to appear exactly as she did in the video. Observers also said she often shows up about midway through the second set, telling friends she didn’t want to look “worn out” or “too sweaty” when she and Springsteen are reunited during the encore and, what she assumes, will fall madly in love.
During a recent show at Wrigley Field, onlookers noticed a panicked, frustrated and slightly intoxicated Cox, attempting to jump over the barricade in front of the stage during Tenth Avenue Freeze out, fearing Springsteen removed Dancing in the Dark from his set list that night. Unfortunately, she was quickly apprehended and escorted from the arena by security without The Boss even noticing. As of press time, Cox has still not made it up on stage.
Hogwash. He’s been doing the “Dancing in the Dark” bit this entire tour, and the song has been played BEFORE “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” at each and every show. That’s just one aspect of this that I find quite dubious.
Wow. Some people do not know the meaning of “joke”.
Irene, you’re an idiot.
I’m sorry but these are LIES?
There aren’t such photos anywhere, there haven’t been any sightings at his concerts and she certainly hasn’t shortened her hair!! Plus, she’s busy filming Cougar Town.
Just WHY would you publish these lies?
Seriously hope this story is totally made up. If not, I hope she realizes Bruce isn’t available!
Saw him dancing with one girl in Manchester England and he got another young girl to dance with Jake as she was holding up a poster saying she loved Jake! One of the best concerts I have seen him in and I’ve seen him 12 times since 80’s.Wish I was there to see some more. Enjoy!
I wonder if Springsteen does that bit anymore. I imagine it would get old, but the crowd would eat it up.
