Herman Cain Carries Flag for the Democrats

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — Television viewers were quick to spot former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain minutes after the 2012 Democratic National Convention gaveled to order.

The Tea Party favorite presented the colors as a member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Stanly County Chapter 12 Honor Guard.

Mr. Cain — who worked as a civilian for the U.S. Department of the Navy — was asked the obvious.

RIGHT: How did he become a member of the Honor Guard with no military service? (CLICK TO ENLARGE)

“The fact of the matter is, I didn’t,” answered Cain, turning quickly on his heel to slow march away from a puzzled mainstream media.

Members of the honor guard had no clue the second flag bearer was the Godfather from Atlanta. Down one member an hour before the scheduled start of the convention, the veterans were relieved a substitute arrived, security clearance in one hand, six pizzas in the other. Cain even demonstrated his flag-folding creds, creasing dinner napkins into perfect tri-cornered hats.

Word of what appeared a “can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,” “right to left” defection whipped through a Republican party still badly bruised from barely a blip of a post-convention bounce.

“It’s an Obamination, an Obamination,” ranted GOP propaganda man, Sean Hannity. “For the oh-so-color blind, diversity-loving Democratic Party to identify the single black member of The Stanly County Chapter 12 Honor Guard as freedom-loving Herman Cain, well all I can say is nein, nein, nein.”

DNC insiders offered no comment on the Cain incident other than to welcome the pizza man, his ideas and his money to the Democratic party.

  1. YES THIS IS MY UNCLE HARVEY THOMAS MY MOTHERS BROTHER AND WE ARE PROUD OF OUR UNCLE….LOVE YA UNCLE HARVEY THOMAS YOU MADE HISTORY IN THE DNC 2012 CHAROLETTE NC…. OH TO YOU THAT THINK WE FIND THIS AN INSULT ITS NOT IT IS AN HONOR BUT POEPLE JUST NEED TO GET INFO RIGHT THATS ALL BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB….

  2. Wow. Some people don’t know a joke when it insults their grandfather.

It totally looks like Herman Caine, and that’s a compliment to everyone. Herman is a very successful person, and himself a true patriot. You have to really hate on Herman to find this article offensive.

  3. OK, come on now. My father is a Vietnam vet, two tours and my grandfather was WWII, the infinity tour. The piece may have been a lame attempt at a joke but it didn’t insult any serviceman or vet. Quit using them as your prop to spew indignity at a bad joke, else aren’t you using them the same way…for a personal agenda? Geez, people, get real!

  4. Mr. Harvey Thomas was carrying the U.S. flag in honor of over 1.1 million U.S. Wardead and the millions of U.S. veterans disabled due to their service to our nation, not for any political party. Sheree Shatsky’s unpatriotic joke is an insult to the honorable combat service of Mr. Thomas, his family, his hometown community and represents a coward’s stab in the back of all our veterans.

  5. @Steven Willows… Are you saying Herman Cain is a shoehorn?

I guess mistaken identity is sick and hateful.

But I still think you’re wrong. Herman Cain never even served in the armed services. Set and match.

  6. Its obvious you do not know an honorable discharged combat veteran from a shoe horn. One can tell you have no respect for those who helped defend your right to use the First Amendment to demonstrate you are an idiot. Mr. Harvey Thomas deserves better than your sick, hateful jokes. I hope the next time we are ordered into combat, you find yourself centered in the line of fire. Satire is satire, but sick is sick.

  7. Well congrats to you for having such a noble grandfather. Let him know we thank him for his dedicated service to our great nation. Without him and people who served in the way he did, America wouldn’t be what it is today.

Also tell him his pizza is delicious.

  8. Shameful of me, but have to admit, very gratifying listening to Hannity blow a gasket this afternoon after Clinton so effectively called out the GOP last night.

SH sounded as shrill as he did four years ago this close to the election …. and we all know how that turned out.

Not that I want to count my chickens before hatching, don’t cha know …
