Pro-gun Lobby Calls for State-Level Ban On Schools

WASHINGTON D.C. – Almost a month after a gunman claimed the lives of nearly 30 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, members of a pro-gun group have urged states across the nation to pass tough legislation aimed at banning the use of schools.

Chairman of Capital Arms – a firearms advocacy group in Washington D.C. – Todd Bryant insisted Tuesday that “tragedies like Newtown could have been prevented if kids didn’t have such easy access to educational buildings.”

“After the shootings at Columbine, Virginia Tech, and now Sandy Hook, the time has truly come for us, as a nation, to rethink our attitude toward schools. Is it really worth putting precious lives at stake, just because parents want their children to learn?”

In a statement on its website, Capital Arms indicated that it would also be open to a partial state ban on schools, allowing otherwise “vulnerable” students to at least access alternative forms of education following “extensive background checks”.

“We understand that there are people out there who, for whatever reason, feel that an education is important in their life. But in this day and age of mass school shootings, we cannot allow just anyone access to a quality, classroom-based education. Perhaps online classes are an option.”

Meanwhile, the lobby also said it will seek further bans on shopping malls and inner-city movie theaters.

  1. Why can’t we just get rid of them? Isn’t it time? Hasn’t enough blood been spilt?

  2. The logic is sound. If we just go a 100% homeschool model, the number of public school shootings will necessarily drop to 0. Problem solved.

You'll also notice that private schools haven't seen shooting sprees. It could be because they make up a small percentage of total schools, or it could have something to do with the lack of despair that comes with having so much money you can afford private school. Don't know.

Now we just need a Future Crimes division and we can be done with all this once and for all.
