Dramatic drops in ratings combined with a lack of any reputable (top-of-market-paying) advertiser willing to be part of his show have finally taken their toll on Glenn Beck and his FOXNews program.
Beck offered a rare olive branch, saying, “…I want to verify something that is true,” which marked a noted departure for Beck, who normally avoids verifying the truth, preferring only espouses crazy conspiracy theories and conspicuous product placement for his gold, seed and Armageddon survival oriented sponsors.
CEO Roger Ailes was somewhat less apologetic, saying to the AP that “Half of the headlines say he’s been canceled… the other half say he quit. We’re pretty happy with both of them.” So the coldest lizard king himself says it doesn’t matter, it’s just best that you’re gone… that’s pretty bad.
Beck is survived by Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and a number of lesser known liars at Fox News.
It should be noted that I personally switched AWAY from GIECO because of their sponsorship of Glenn Beck and FOX News, and that I only view this as the first step in the right direction.
I don’t think he will. I think he’s pretty much done with TV for now. He has his radio show, he’ll stick with that. We might see him reinvent himself in a few years, but for now it’s back to the woodwork.
Not knocking Mormons (the guys behind South Park are already doing enough of that already) but they are big on the Armageddon thing and that is the basis Beck uses for his mangled theories that he touts like a circus act.
Good riddance.
Of course he will surely pop up somewhere else.
